Study Notes 6/29/11

Galatians 3:24

“…The law was our guardian until Christ came; It protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.”

Proverbs 27:2

“Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth- a stranger not your own lips.”

Proverbs 27:21

“Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.”

Luke 6:26

“What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets.”

James 4:4-6

“You Adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. What do you think that the scriptures mean when they say that the Spirit God placed within us is filled with envy? But He gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the scripture says, “God apposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

1 John 2:15-17

“Do not love this world or the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasures, a craving for everything we see and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but from the world, and the world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone that does what pleases God will live forever.”

Proverbs 27:4

“Anger is cruel and wrath like a flood, but jealousy is even more dangerous.”
